Mitsu Okamura Lab.

About us
“Ground” supports all our structures, and “soil” is the most common construction material used in the construction of embankments and other areas.

This ground and soil vary depending on the location and are literally diverse.

The geotechnical engineering research conducted in our laboratory aims to generalize these properties as physical laws, so that the materials can perform well and stably support society, and so that they do not cause disasters during heavy rains or earthquakes.

Therefore, we conduct:
academic research on the properties and behavior of soil, known as soil mechanics;

academic research on ground behavior, known as geotechnical engineering;

research on field behavior through field surveys and field experiments;

project research including implementation in practical applications;

and collaboration with national and local governments and private companies to create a spiral of advancement between academia and engineering.

Through these activities, our lab. strive to contribute to student education, the advancement of academia, and society.
Professor
The Okamura Laboratory is a laboratory specializing in “geotechnical engineering and geotechnical disaster prevention” belonging to the Department of Civil and Evironmental Engineering, Major in Civil and Environmental Engineering, NGINEERING, WASEDA UNIVERSITY

The supervising professor is Mitsu Okamura. Established in April 2025.
